FAQs

Got questions?

We’ve taken some of the most asked questions by our customers and put the answers below.

Hopefully our website is so easy to use and the magazines are described well enough that you don’t really need to check here!

If you want to know more about postage rates across the world, we’ve a more detailed shipping page that will probably help.

Is the site secure?

YES!   Security is very important to us, as it should be.

In fact as we pass you to PayPal to take your payment details, we don’t actually see or store any of those details, BUT better safe than sorry we say, so the entire site is encrypted and protected for your total protection, you should see a ‘padlock’ by your browser bar to indicate the site is using https / SSL encryption.

That means when you login to your account, or register your name and e-mail, we encrypt those with industry standard protection.

The site is also protected by several layers of security protection, to ensure the few personal details we do ask for are locked away safe.

Are magazines Vatable?

Magazines are a VAT exempt product, so the price you see has no VAT (sales tax) element.

We have started to sell calendars, which are taxable via full rate VAT.  Therefore prices shown will include a VAT element if you live within the UK or the EU.  Rest of world will exclude VAT / Sales tax, but may be applicable once your order is processed by your countries customs.

What's your privacy policy?

We obviously aim to be compliant with all relevent law, including the GDPR rules which came into place on 25th May 2018. See our full privacy policy here.

Are there benefits to registering?

One benefit is saving you time!  Once you’ve registered, we store both your billing and delivery addresses against your account, saving you type them each time.  We do NOT store payment details for extra security.

How long will my order take to get to me?

Orders placed before 12pm UK time Monday – Friday will be processed and posted the same day. There may be short delays at peak periods. We ship second class Royal Mail within the UK, so MOST shipments should arrive within three to four working days if ordered before 12 noon, Monday-Friday. Any orders made after 12 noon on Friday will be posted the following Monday – unless it’s a bank holiday!

Please see below for international delivery estimates according to Royal Mail:

    • Western Europe: up to 10-14 working days
    • Eastern Europe: up to five weeks
    • North America: up to six weeks
    • South America, Africa and Asia: up to eight weeks
    • Australia: up to 12 weeks

Please note that often deliveries will arrive sooner than the above estimates.

NOTE: During the build-up to Christmas posting (1st Nov – 23rd Dec) delivery times may well take longer, this is unfortunately out of our control.

How can you take pre-orders?

As we work directly on behalf of the publishers, we receive the future schedule for their magazines.  We actually are responsible for having the issues physically printed and then distributed for them, so we always know when the issues will be available.  Thus we can ensure YOU receive your copy as close to on-sale date as possible, in some cases, possibly early!

As we control the stock, at certain times we will put certain special issues on pre-order, as we KNOW we will be obtaining the stock to be able to meet all orders.

How much is postage?

Within the UK nearly all our products are FREE Postage!

For the vast majority of our magazines, postage is included in the price you pay, which is the standard cover price you’d pay in any shop!  For orders under £6, we charge £1 postage.

Overseas

There is an additional cost for overseas postage based on the country/region we are delivering to.

See this page for full shipping details.

It says pre-orders have to be purchased indvidually?

Unfortunately yes that’s a limitation of our shopping system currently.

The good news is you don’t pay postage for orders over £5.99, and overseas postage is per item anyway, so it won’t cost you any more to buy pre-orders separately!

This way standard orders go out next day, and pre-orders will be posted when they are available.  If you are in the UK, for orders over £5.99 you’ll pay no postage no matter how many packages we send out to you!

Do you stock back issues?

Yes!  We stock back issues for most of our magazines until we sell out. Just search for a magazine and we will display all back issues we have in stock.

Can I order at the weekend?

Yes of course, this website runs 24/7.  Unfortunately we are only human, so do not.  Any orders made after 12 noon on Friday and over the weekend will be posted out on the following Monday.

How can I pay?

We partner with the market leading and trusted PayPal to handle our secure payments.

You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay, as they accept all the standard credit and debit cards.

How do you sell magazines so cheaply?

We sell our magazines to you at their printed “cover price”, exactly as you would pay in a physical shop, yet can offer free UK postage included.  How can we do that?  Easy; there is no middle-man.

We actually have the magazines printed for the publishers, so we can ensure copies of your favourite magazines are printed especially for us to sell.  No other online service can match that!

I am a publisher, can you sell my magazine?

We do now work with publishers outside our ‘partner’ publishers, and are keen to add more titles and publishers to enable us to offer a ‘complete’ offering.  Please note: we do not sell magazines in the adult category.  Get in touch: contact@magsdirect.co.uk

Are these magazines different to those in a shop?

These are from exactly the same print run as those you will find in any newsagent or supermarket, and include any cover-mounted gifts.

The only difference may be any shop specific packaging (such as Tesco branded plastic wrapping) which we do not include.

Are these magazines second hand?

Absolutely not!  All bookazines / magazines are brand new and come direct from the publishers themselves.

You are the first person to read them, guaranteed!
