The Official Tour de France 2025 Tour Route: A True Challenge Across France
The 2025 Tour de France will cover 3,320 km over 21 stages, featuring a mix of flat, hilly, mountain, and time trial stages. There will be seven flat stages, six hilly stages, and six mountain stages, including five epic mountain finishes at Hautacam, Luchon-Superbagnères, Mont Ventoux, Courchevel Col de la Loze, and La Plagne. The total elevation gain will be an astonishing 51,550 meters, showcasing the sheer difficulty of the race.

- Stage 1: Lille Métropole > Lille Métropole (185 km) – A flat start to the Tour.
- Stage 5: Caen > Caen (33 km) – A time trial perfect for rouleurs.
- Stage 10: Ennezat > Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy (163 km) – A tough mountain stage with a dramatic finish.
- Stage 12: Auch > Hautacam (181 km) – A grueling mountain stage.

The 2025 edition will feature 8 new stage towns:

Mountains:
Expect climbs in the Massif Central, Pyrenees, Alps, and Jura. The iconic Col de la Loze (2,304m) will be the highest point of the race, marking a first-ever ascent via the eastern flank from Courchevel. The Pau > Luchon-Superbagnères stage will return after a 39-year hiatus.
2 Time Trials:
The 2025 Tour will feature two time trials:
- Stage 5: Caen > Caen (33 km) – A solo effort with ideal terrain for time trial specialists.
- Stage 13: Loudenvielle > Peyragudes (11 km) – A short but intense time trial with challenging gradients.
Time Bonuses:
Time bonuses of 10, 6, and 4 seconds will be awarded to the first three riders on each stage, adding an extra element of strategy to the race.
Riders:
The 2025 Tour will feature 176 riders representing 22 teams, all lining up for the Grand Départ on Saturday 5th July in Lille.
