Raised in a musical family, Raye began writing songs at a young age and briefly attended the BRIT School before pursuing music independently. She first gained attention through collaborations with artists like Jax Jones and Jonas Blue, and later wrote for stars such as Beyoncé, Charli XCX, and John Legend.
Her career took a pivotal turn in 2021 when she publicly criticized her label, Polydor Records, for withholding her debut album. She left the label and released her first studio album, My 21st Century Blues, in 2023 to critical acclaim. The single “Escapism” became a viral hit, topping the UK charts and entering the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2024, Raye made history by winning six Brit Awards in one night and was nominated for three Grammys. Her music often explores personal struggles and societal issues, earning her recognition as one of the UK’s most compelling contemporary artists
