The 2025 Official Tour de France Route: A Legendary Challenge Across France
The 2025 Tour de France will cover 3,320 km over 21 stages, featuring a mix of flat, hilly, mountain, and time trial stages. With 7 flat stages, 6 hilly stages, and 6 mountain stages – including five breathtaking mountain finishes at Hautacam, Luchon-Superbagnères, Mont Ventoux, Courchevel Col de la Loze, and La Plagne – the route promises to be a true test of strength and endurance.
Key Stages & Highlights:
- Stage 1: Lille Métropole > Lille Métropole (185 km) – A fast, flat start to the Tour.
- Stage 5: Caen > Caen (33 km) – A time trial perfect for the specialists.
- Stage 12: Auch > Hautacam (181 km) – A thrilling mountain stage that could shake up the standings.
- Stage 16: Montpellier > Mont Ventoux (172 km) – The unforgettable climb of Mont Ventoux is back in the spotlight.
- Stage 18: Vif > Courchevel Col de la Loze (171 km) – The highest point of the 2025 Tour will be the Col de la Loze, the most dramatic climb of the race.
New Stage Towns:
Eight new towns will make their debut in the 2025 edition, marking the expansion of the race route:

- Bayeux (Stage 6)

- Vif (Stage 18)

Mountains:
The 2025 Tour will take riders through some of France’s most legendary climbs, including the Col de la Loze, the highest point of the race at 2,304 meters. Expect epic mountain battles in the Pyrenees, Alps, and Jura as riders tackle historic climbs. The Pau > Luchon-Superbagnères stage makes its triumphant return after 39 years.
2 Time Trials:
The 2025 Tour will feature two exciting time trial stages:
- Stage 5: Caen > Caen (33 km) – A race against the clock through the rolling terrain.
- Stage 13: Loudenvielle > Peyragudes (11 km) – A short but intense individual time trial with challenging gradients.
Time Bonuses:
As usual, time bonuses will be awarded to the top three finishers on each stage, giving riders extra motivation to fight for victory at every point in the race.
Riders:
The 2025 Tour will feature 176 riders from 22 teams. The race kicks off on Saturday 5th July in Lille, and you can follow every moment of their journey to Paris!
