Rail 200 Magazine: The Story of Our Railways Since 1825

September marks 200 years since the first ever passenger service, on the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1825. Bauer Media’s three titles in the sector – RAIL, Steam Railway and Model Rail – are to produce a special souvenir edition to mark the auspicious bicentenary.

This collaborative first will trace the past, present and future of rail over three centuries. Lavishly illustrated over 228 pages, it will use fabulous pictures, extraordinary facts and amazing figures to tell the story of rail in a way it’s never been told before.

As well as rail’s glories, with all the key landmarks and events, it will also take some detours to shine a light into the secret corners and unexpected episodes in rail’s history, and take time out from the timeline to explore how it has shaped and continues to shape our home and work lives, the places around us and the future of world travel.
